High-Capacity Autonomous Mowing Solutions

Our Autonomous Solutions

Eco Clipper develops autonomous mowing solutions specifically for large-scale turfgrass production, where capacity, consistency, and predictable operation are essential. By combining proven electric mowing technology with autonomous operation, Eco Clipper enables planned, high-quality mowing across extensive areas with minimal labour input.

The autonomous range includes the dedicated AM Series—AM3 with a 3.09 m cutting width and AM5 with 5.13 m—as well as the FM6 (6.15 m), configured for use with AgXeed autonomous tractors. These solutions are designed to deliver consistent cut quality and reliable performance in structured production environments, supporting efficient turfgrass management at scale.

Use cases from our customers

Several customers are now operating Eco Clipper FM6 mowing systems in combination with AgXeed autonomous tractors. These setups have been in continuous use for multiple seasons, maintaining large turfgrass production areas with consistent cut quality and reliable autonomous operation. The first Eco Clipper AM5 is currently deployed to manage a combined turfgrass production area of approximately 50 hectares. The system supports planned, autonomous mowing across multiple fields, delivering consistent results while reducing labour requirements in large-scale turfgrass production.

When Does High-Capacity Autonomous Mowing Pay Off?

Mowing costs are primarily driven by three factors: labour input, logistics (field-to-field transport and waiting time), and operational availability—the number of productive mowing hours per day. High-capacity autonomous mowing changes this balance by reducing labour dependency and extending available mowing windows, allowing planned operation during evenings and weekends while staff focus on other core tasks.

Area size is a key factor in determining the economic viability of high-capacity autonomous mowing:

  • Under 30 hectares
High-capacity autonomous mowing is typically not cost-effective, as the initial investment is difficult to offset with limited area and utilisation.
  • 30–50 hectares
Autonomous mowing may be viable depending on local labour costs, operational constraints, and how efficiently fields can be clustered and managed.
  • Over 50 hectares (contiguous or clusterable fields)
High-capacity autonomous mowing often delivers a strong return on investment through substantial labour savings, improved utilisation, and extended operational capacity.

High-Capacity Mowing Solutions

Eco Clipper offers two autonomous mowing approaches for high-capacity operation, delivering up to 6 hectares per hour depending on configuration and operating conditions.

  • Eco Clipper AM Series – dedicated autonomous mowing systems with working widths of 3.09 m (AM3) and 5.13 m (AM5), designed for fully autonomous operation in large-scale turfgrass production.
  • Eco Clipper FM6 for AgXeed – the FM6 (6.15 m) mowing system integrated with AgXeed autonomous 3- or 4-wheel tractors, combining high working width with flexible autonomous tractor platforms.

Compliance & Safety

Safe operation in the field, without an operator

Operating a large autonomous mower at working speeds of up to 16 km/h without an onboard operator requires a proven and certifiable safety concept. In collaboration with AgriRobot and with the support of RI.se, Eco Clipper has developed a certifiable safety system for the Eco Clipper AM.

The Eco Clipper AM safety concept combines fused sensor technologies for obstacle detection and geofencing. Each sensor system is designed with its own defined safety level and, together, they form a complete safety architecture. This system is developed in compliance with ISO 18497 (safety of highly automated agricultural machines) and ISO 13849 / ISO 25119 (functional safety requirements for agricultural machinery).
